BALTIMORE CHORAL ARTS PRESENTS: Beethoven 9 Come-and-Sing with Peabody Graduate Conducting Studio

Baltimore Choral Arts Society, in collaboration with the Peabody Graduate Conducting Studio, is proud to present a unique community singalong opportunity for the Baltimore area: a free three-day workshop of Beethoven's Symphony #9, culminating in an audience choir rehearsal with coaching by Marin Alsop at the Peabody Institute.

On April 23rd and 27th, the singers will prepare with Choral Arts Music Director Anthony Blake Clark to learn the choral finale to Beethoven's iconic symphony. Then, on April 28th over 200 singers will join together at the revered Peabody Institute, where the Peabody Graduate Conductors and orchestra will rehearse Beethoven's entire symphony. All singers will join in to sing the famous finale from the audience.

“Being trained at the Peabody Institute by Marin Alsop was a dream come true for me. I’m delighted to be able to partner with Marin Alsop’s conducting studio to pull back the curtain a bit and show the singing public the incredible education and artistry that happens at Peabody! In this experience, you’ll be a giant lab choir for the Masters and Doctoral conductors (and Marin will take the podium too!) as they conduct us and the Peabody Conductors’ Orchestra to conquer the intricate corners of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony!” – Music Director Anthony Blake Clark

Baltimore Choral Arts Society is committed to providing musical experiences that are accessible to the members of the greater Baltimore community. This free workshop is one of several Discovery Series events that Choral Arts produces every year. Previous events have included Baltimore’s Big Sing, a high-energy community collaboration presented in collaboration with Artscape, along with several recent open rehearsals featuring well-known choral works such as the Verdi Requiem and Fauré Requiem.

Participation in this one-of-a-kind workshop is free; Interested singers can apply to participate by filling out this form: https://bit.ly/BCAS_B9_2025
